KASUR: On Tuesday, police detained 13 people on suspicion of murdering a pappar (rice cracker) vendor at a wedding ceremony in Pattoki.
According to the FIR, rice cracker vendor Muhammad Ashraf was accused of taking a wedding guest’s phone. Inside the wedding hall, he was supposedly cruelly tortured to death by the guests.
Meanwhile, a video of Ashraf’s body lying in the hall while the wedding guests ate their lunch went viral.
During a press conference, the DPO stated that police raided several locations in Kanganpur, Pattoki, and Sarai Mughal and arrested 12 individuals. He stated doctors had not proven torture in the deceased’s original postmortem report, and that the police were looking into all aspects of the case. A police report has been filed.
Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar and IGP Rao Sardar took notice of the occurrence and demanded a report.
