SIALKOT: As per District Police Officer, the investigation into the murder of Sri Lankan citizen Priyantha Kumara is in its last stages.
In an interview with Dawn on Wednesday, he said that the inquiry was nearing its conclusion, and that they had interrogated all suspects in the strictest of terms. He insisted that the police in this case were not under any duress.
He said that the Sialkot police were wrapping up their inquiry with the support of the Punjab Prosecution Department team to ensure that no legal aspects get overlooked. The suspects will be presented to the Anti-Terrorism Court at the conclusion of their custody and the Police will seek a judicial remand.
According to the DPO, they will make a press report available after the investigation into the murder case gets concluded. He insisted they could share no information until the investigation was complete.
Suspects accused of murdering Priyantha Kumara have been detained in Gujranwala’s anti-terrorism court till February 14. On December 3 of last year, manufacturing workers assassinated and burned Kumara, the factory’s general manager.
