ISLAMABAD: Jamaat-e-Islami Senator Mushtaq Ahmed has sought details about appointment of sitting and retired army officials in the National Database Registration Authority (NADRA). Some opposition members also supported JI Senator and demanded from government specific details about this issue.
JI Senator said, “I had questioned how many people are on deputation in NADRA and how many retired armed forces personnel were working in the authority.”
He said the answer he got was unsatisfactory and said he was asking about the number of retired armed forces personnel that were re-employed in NADRA.

“According to my information, a large number of retired armed forces personnel have been given jobs in NADRA despite growing unemployment in Pakistan.
Senator Mushtaq Ahmed said, “Giving jobs again with great privileges and perks to those who have reached retirement age is an injustice with our talented youth.”
Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan responded to JI Senator’s question and said six people were employed on deputation in NADRA and they were not retired members of the armed forces.
The minister said a fresh question needed to be submitted for Senator Mushtaq Ahmed’s concerns to be fully addressed since the current question was regarding people employed through deputation.

Meanwhile, Azam Nazeer Tarar, a PML-N Senator, further shaped the question and asked for precise details of the number of retired army officers employed, their date of appointment, their responsibilities and whether they had additional qualifications meriting their employment.
“Around two months back, I read in a newspaper that close to two dozen directors and deputy directors — all retired army officers — were employed in one day,” Tarar said.
Ali Muhammad Khan minister of the parliamentary affairs termed Tarar’s query a good question and said it would be responded to in detail.
