Grand Mosalla to Host Nationwide Mourning Ceremony
TEHRAN โ Iranโs Islamic Development Coordination Council announced on Wednesday that a three-day public farewell ceremony will honor the late Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, at Tehranโs Grand Mosalla.
According to the councilโs statement, the ceremony will begin at 10:00 p.m. local time and continue for three consecutive days. Authorities invited the public to attend and pay tribute to what they described as the โmartyr leader and great commander of the Islamic Revolution.โ
Furthermore, the council extended condolences to the wider Muslim community and urged broad participation from all segments of Iranian society. It called on men and women, youth and elders, academics, seminary scholars, workers, farmers, teachers, and students to join the mourning events.
Officials emphasized that large-scale attendance would demonstrate national unity, loyalty to the ideals of the Islamic Revolution, and resilience in the face of external adversaries.
Funeral Plans Underway After Assassination
Meanwhile, organizers confirmed that special programs have been arranged throughout the three days of mourning. They also said preparations for the funeral procession are underway, with further details to be announced once finalized.
In its message, the council described Khamenei as a devoted servant of God who dedicated his life to strengthening what it called โpure Muhammadan Islam,โ preserving Iranโs independence, and reinforcing the Axis of Resistance.
Grand Mosalla, a prominent religious and national venue in Tehran, has historically hosted major gatherings and state events.
Authorities announced Khameneiโs martyrdom early Sunday morning after an attack targeted his residence in Tehran on Saturday. Several family members, including his daughter, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, and grandchild, were also killed in the strike.
