Azerbaijan Nears $2 Billion Investment in Pakistan, President Aliyev to Visit This Month

Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economy, Mikayil Jabbarov, is scheduled to arrive in Pakistan on April 8 to discuss various economic and trade projects.

ISLAMABAD: Azerbaijan’s investment in Pakistan has entered its final stages, with agreements worth $2 billion set to be signed during Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s expected visit to Pakistan on April 26-27, according to Foreign Office sources.

Ahead of this high-profile visit, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economy, Mikayil Jabbarov, is scheduled to arrive in Pakistan on April 8 to discuss various economic and trade projects.

Azerbaijan is eyeing investments across multiple sectors, including petroleum, infrastructure, trade, and IT. The country has proposed a $500 million investment in the Sukkur-Hyderabad M-6 and M-9 motorway projects, with an additional $500 million expected to be allocated to other infrastructure developments.

In the petroleum sector, Azerbaijan is considering a $300 million investment, which may include establishing an oil refinery in Badin. The country has also expressed interest in funding Pakistan’s White Pipeline project.

With a total investment of $2 billion, these initiatives are set to strengthen economic ties between Pakistan and Azerbaijan, paving the way for deeper bilateral cooperation.
