Pakistan Advances to Asian Junior Squash Semi-Finals After Defeating Japan

Pakistan secured a place in the semi-finals of the 22nd Asian Junior Squash Team Championships 2025 after a hard-fought 2-1 victory against Japan in the quarter-finals on Friday. The team will now compete against South Korea in the semi-final scheduled for tomorrow.

The match began with a strong performance from Anas Ali Shah, who secured Pakistan’s first win by defeating Renshi Makino 11-4, 11-6, 7-11, 11-8 in a 53-minute contest. However, Japan quickly bounced back when Shu Takahashi leveled the score with a hard-fought 11-9, 11-6, 2-11, 7-11, 11-8 victory over Sakhi Ullah Khan Tareen in 57 minutes.

The deciding match saw Abdullah Nawaz rise to the occasion, delivering a dominant performance against Shunsaku Kariyazono. Nawaz secured victory for Pakistan with a straight-set win of 11-7, 11-5, 12-10 in just 30 minutes, ensuring the team’s progression to the semi-finals.

Pakistan’s journey in the tournament has been impressive, as the team remained undefeated in the group stage. They secured wins against India, China, and Macau, demonstrating their strong form and determination.

With the semi-finals approaching, Pakistan aims to continue its winning momentum as it prepares to take on South Korea. A victory in the next round would bring them one step closer to clinching the championship title.
