No Afghan Nationals Without NOC Allowed After Dec 31

NOC

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced on Wednesday that after December 31, Afghan citizens will not be allowed to remain in Islamabad without a No-Objection Certificate (NOC).

The declaration reflects the government’s firm stance on regulating the presence of foreign nationals in the federal capital.

Naqvi made the announcement during his visit to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Hospital, where he met personnel from the Rangers, Frontier Corps (FC), and police injured during recent clashes with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protesters.

Accompanied by Rangers Punjab Director General Maj Gen Muhammad Atif, Naqvi personally inquired about the well-being of each injured officer, appreciating their courage and resilience in the face of adversity.

“These officers are the nation’s heroes,” he remarked, commending their patience and high morale despite the provocations they faced during the operation.

Naqvi directed the hospital administration to provide the best possible medical care to the injured personnel. He added, “Despite the mischief, you demonstrated remarkable patience and tolerance.”

Addressing allegations of fatalities during the operation, the interior minister categorically denied any loss of life, asserting that no police personnel carried firearms during the protests. “I challenge anyone spreading false propaganda to name a single individual who was killed,” he said, dismissing the rumors as baseless.

Naqvi praised the peaceful resolution of the protests, emphasizing that the demonstrators were able to leave with their dignity intact.

He criticized Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur for his alleged misconduct, asserting that the latter’s actions had left him with no defense for his behavior.

Additionally, the minister announced plans for legal action against PTI in response to the unrest. He stated that a comprehensive report on the situation would be submitted to the Islamabad High Court and the federal cabinet.

Naqvi concluded by confirming that the situation in Islamabad had largely returned to normal, crediting the authorities for their effective handling of the crisis.

The announcement regarding the NOC requirement for Afghan nationals underscores the government’s commitment to maintaining order and enforcing regulations in the capital.
