Counter-Terrorism Success
General Zhang Youxia, Vice Chairman of China’s Central Military Commission (CMC), has praised the Pakistan Army for its resolve and professionalism in counter-terrorism operations.
His commendation came during a visit to the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, where he met Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir, according to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
General Youxia led a high-level Chinese delegation to GHQ, emphasizing China’s commitment to strengthening its enduring partnership with Pakistan.
The visit featured a series of high-level engagements, beginning with a one-on-one meeting between General Munir and General Youxia.
This was followed by delegation-level talks, focusing on mutual interests, regional security dynamics, strategies for regional stability, and enhancing bilateral defense cooperation.
During the discussions, COAS Munir highlighted the historic and all-weather nature of Pakistan-China relations. He stressed that the partnership, built on a foundation of mutual trust and cooperation, has successfully withstood challenges over the decades.
General Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to deepening this strategic relationship further, while expressing gratitude for China’s steadfast support of Pakistan amid changing international and regional dynamics.
General Youxia echoed similar sentiments, commending Pakistan for its unwavering commitment to counter-terrorism and acknowledging the crucial role of the Pakistan Army in ensuring regional stability.
He reiterated China’s resolve to continue supporting Pakistan in its pursuit of peace and security.
Upon his arrival at GHQ, General Youxia laid a floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada, paying tribute to the martyrs of Pakistan.
He received a ceremonial guard of honor presented by a smartly turned-out contingent of the Pakistan Army, signifying the respect and camaraderie between the two nations.
The visit underscores the deep-rooted and evolving relationship between Pakistan and China, particularly in defense cooperation and regional stability, reflecting the mutual respect and shared goals of the two countries.
