‘May 9 Part-II’: One Policeman Killed, 70 Injured in PTI Protest, Claims Uzma Bokhari

Punjab government spokesperson Uzma Bokhari has raised serious concerns regarding the violence and loss of life resulting from the PTI protest, calling the situation tragic and alarming.

Speaking to the media, Bokhari questioned the actions of those defending the right to protest, highlighting the human cost of the demonstration. “Today, a young man was martyred because of the protest, and five others are in critical condition,” she said, adding, “Seventy police officers are seriously injured, and many have been taken hostage by the protesters.”

Bokhari criticized the PTI leadership for inciting violence and accused them of exploiting religion for political gain. “I don’t know what kind of Sharia law they’re promoting today, as they continue to spread religion for their own agenda,” she remarked, referring to the PTI leadership’s actions during the protests.

She also directed her criticism at the sons of PTI’s founder, Imran Khan, for participating in the protests. “The sons of the PTI founder should be leading the protests themselves. They are putting people’s lives at risk for someone who doesn’t even care about them,” Bokhari stated.

Further condemning the violent tactics used by the protesters, she said, “It seems they want the politics of corpses.” Bokhari linked the escalation of violence to a broader strategy by the protesters to fuel unrest.

On the religious front, Bokhari took aim at a female leader involved in the protest, who attempted to use religious symbolism. “The lady read the Quran today, and I’m not sure if she misread it intentionally or if she simply doesn’t know how to read it properly,” she said, questioning the authenticity of the religious message being conveyed.

Bokhari concluded by highlighting the role of law enforcement in the situation, accusing PTI leader Ali Amin Gandapur of requesting 1,500 policemen dressed in plain clothes. She alleged that these officers were involved in beating police officers who attempted to stop the protestors.

The situation remains tense, with ongoing violence and public unrest. According to the latest reports, PTI workers are making their way to Islamabad in caravans, further escalating the crisis.
