CTD Kills 3 Khawarij Terrorists in Rawalpindi

Rawalpindi: Rawalpindi narrowly avoided a major catastrophe today following a fierce gun battle between Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) officers and militants near Chakrial. Three militants, affiliated with the terrorist group Fitna al-Khawarij, were killed in the exchange of fire, while two others managed to flee the scene.

According to a CTD spokesperson, the confrontation occurred during an intelligence-based operation aimed at apprehending the militants. The militants opened fire on the CTD team, leading to a shootout. Three militants were killed, reportedly by friendly fire from their own group, while two managed to escape.

The authorities recovered suicide vests, rifles, IEDs, ammunition, and other explosive materials from the slain militants. A search operation is currently underway to capture the two fugitives, with CTD teams maintaining a blockade near Chakrial.

The spokesperson further confirmed that the militants had been planning a large-scale attack on Rawalpindi. The process of identifying the deceased militants is ongoing.

This incident follows a recent threat alert issued by the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) regarding potential terrorist activities by Fitna al-Khawarij. NACTA had warned of the possibility of attacks in major cities, particularly in connection with the PTI’s planned protest on November 24.
