Trump and Jill Stein muster stunning support from Muslim voters

American Muslim voters overwhelmingly supported Green Party candidate Jill Stein in the 2024 presidential election, with 53.2 percent casting their ballots in her favor, according to a new survey by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR).

The survey revealed that President-elect Donald Trump received 21.4 percent of the Muslim vote, while Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris garnered 20.3 percent. In Michigan, support for Stein was even higher, with 59 percent of 502 Muslim respondents backing her, compared to 22 percent for Trump and 14 percent for Harris.

CAIR, the nation’s largest Muslim advocacy organization, conducted the poll via text on November 5-6, surveying 1,575 verified American Muslim voters nationwide. The poll has a margin of error of +/- 2.47 percentage points with a 95 percent confidence level.

CAIR’s National Government Affairs Director Robert McCaw noted that frustration with the Biden administration’s Gaza policy likely contributed to a “sharp drop” in support for Harris, compared to Biden’s 2020 Muslim voter base. He highlighted a “significant increase in support for third-party candidate Jill Stein,” adding that Trump also made some inroads with Muslim voters.

“American Muslims made their voices heard,” McCaw said, “and reaffirmed their important place in our nation’s politics.”

CAIR’s poll results were accompanied by congratulations to American Muslim Congresswoman-elect Lateefah Simon, representing California’s District 12, who will join Andre Carson, Rashida Tlaib, and Ilhan Omar as the fourth Muslim member of Congress.

During her campaign, Stein advocated for an immediate end to U.S. support for Israel’s actions in Gaza and Lebanon, the lifting of the aid blockade, and the release of all hostages and political prisoners.
