In a heartfelt social media post, Stokes called for help in recovering stolen items, including his OBE medal, which holds great sentimental value. He emphasized that “many of those items are irreplaceable” and urged anyone with information to reach out to the Durham Constabulary, expressing gratitude for the police’s ongoing support in the investigation.
Despite the distraction of the burglary, Stokes played in the second Test match against Pakistan shortly after the incident, although the team suffered a disappointing defeat. His coach, Brendon McCullum, acknowledged the challenges Stokes faced during the tour, highlighting the emotional strain from both the burglary and the series loss.
Stokes is currently part of the England squad preparing for an upcoming three-Test series in New Zealand, set to begin on November 28.
