The Pentagon announced on Wednesday that the U.S. military is not providing intelligence support to Israel for its operations against Hezbollah in Lebanon.
Pentagon spokesperson Sabrina Singh clarified that there is no imminent ground incursion by Israeli forces into Lebanon and directed reporters to Israel for questions about their operational plans.
When asked if the U.S. was assisting Israel’s actions in Lebanon, including through intelligence sharing, Singh firmly responded, “No. No support.” She emphasized, “The U.S. military has no involvement in Israel’s operations concerning Lebanon.”
It remains uncertain whether Singh’s comments pertain to the sharing of real-time U.S. intelligence regarding Hezbollah missiles potentially aimed at Israel.
Meanwhile, Israel’s military chief informed troops that airstrikes in Lebanon would continue to target Hezbollah infrastructure and prepare for a possible ground operation.
Singh also mentioned that the U.S. government is actively engaged in diplomatic efforts to deescalate tensions between Israel and Hezbollah.
Recent Israeli airstrikes have focused on Hezbollah leaders and have struck numerous sites throughout Lebanon, prompting hundreds of thousands of people to flee the border area. In response, Hezbollah has launched barrages of rockets into Israel.
Singh highlighted the urgency of the situation, stating, “You’re seeing a full-court press from the United States government and this administration. We want to see a diplomatic solution, and we want to see it urgently.”
