Pakistan And Russia renew commitment to Strengthen trade, economic ties

In a significant move to strengthen bilateral relations, Pakistan and Russia have reaffirmed their commitment to expanding cooperation in trade, economics, and culture.

During a high-level meeting in Islamabad, Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s warm hospitality and underscored the need to deepen the partnership between the two nations.

The discussions spanned a range of areas, including trade, energy, education, and public diplomacy, with both sides agreeing to enhance collaboration in these fields.

Key topics also included the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit, as well as important issues such as food security and economic stability.

Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister noted ongoing negotiations on free trade agreements involving five countries, including Pakistan. Both sides explored ways to boost mutual trade, aiming to secure agreements that would benefit each country.

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister, Ishaq Dar, emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to fostering equal and balanced relations with Russia, highlighting that strengthening economic ties with Moscow remains a priority in Pakistan’s foreign policy.

Dar pointed to the rise in trade volume, now reaching one billion dollars, and voiced optimism about the future of economic relations between the two nations.

The meeting also addressed broader geopolitical issues. Both countries reiterated their resolve to collaborate for peace and stability in Afghanistan and stressed the need for resolving conflicts, including the ongoing violence in Palestine.
