Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is investigating an incident involving flight PK-284, which had to make an emergency landing at Dubai International Airport due to a technical fault.
The flight, en route from Lahore to Peshawar, encountered the issue approximately 50 minutes into its journey. Air traffic controllers instructed the pilots to return to Dubai, where the plane landed safely on Tuesday, September 10.
After landing, passengers were taken to the airport lounge for a precautionary health check, and no injuries were reported. The specific nature of the technical fault is still under investigation by PIA.
This is the second incident involving a PIA flight in recent weeks. On August 22, 2024, a PIA flight from Lahore to Karachi caught fire while taxiing for takeoff. The fire was quickly extinguished, and all passengers and crew were safely evacuated.
The Pakistani government has called for an investigation into the latest incident. The findings will be critical in determining whether the technical fault was due to negligence or factors beyond PIA’s control.
