LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Lahore Zone has released its annual performance report for the Anti-Corruption Circle, as reported by ARY News.
In the past year, the FIA Anti-Corruption Circle initiated 277 cases and 157 inquiries, leading to the arrest of 177 individuals, including several absconders, according to an FIA spokesperson.
The agency conducted extensive raids targeting issues such as overbilling, power theft, counterfeit medicines, and land grabbing. These efforts resulted in the recovery of Rs 39 billion and the arrest of several high-profile figures. Notable arrests include the LESCO Project Director, three XENs, and a commercial assistant, who collectively caused a loss of Rs 82 crore to the national exchequer.
Additionally, the Anti-Corruption Circle recovered 101 acres and 71 kanals of land, valued at Rs 8 billion, from the Auqaf Department, and retrieved approximately Rs 3 crore from tenants.
In its fight against counterfeit and substandard medicines, the FIA registered 11 cases and sealed three medicine factories and medical stores, making recoveries worth Rs 206 million.
The circle also took action against illegal distribution and substandard wheat, arresting seven officials and registering cases under the Torch Act 2022.
Furthermore, the FIA tackled human organ trafficking by arresting 12 members of five gangs involved in illegal transplants. Three cases were registered, leading to the arrest of several doctors, staff, and agents.
