Karsaz Accident Heirs Grant Pardon to Suspect

Karsaz Accident

KARACHI: On Friday, the heirs of the victims of the Karsaz road accident made a notable decision to pardon the suspect involved in the tragic incident. They declared that they had no objections to granting bail to the accused, emphasizing that the accident was not intentional.

In a formal affidavit that will be submitted during the court hearing of the suspect’s bail plea, the heirs stated their decision to forgive the suspect. The affidavit read, “Matters have been settled between us, and we have pardoned the suspect.

We have forgiven for Allah’s sake, who is the most kind and most merciful.” This declaration highlights their desire to settle the matter amicably and underscores their belief in the principles of mercy and forgiveness.

The heirs, including Usama Arif, the son of the deceased Imran, his wife, and a daughter, assured the court that their decision to grant bail was made without any external pressure.

They confirmed that the information in the affidavit was accurate and reflects their genuine intent. The no-objection certificates, which will be presented in court, are intended to support the suspect’s bail application.

The accident in question occurred on August 19, when the suspect’s luxury vehicle collided with multiple vehicles near the Pakistan Maritime Museum. The collision resulted in the deaths of Aamna, a 26-year-old woman, and her 60-year-old father, Imran.

Several others were injured, with one person reported to be in critical condition. The victims were transported to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medical examination and treatment.

According to law enforcement officials, the suspect, a woman, suffered an injury to her head and underwent a CT scan at JPMC. She claimed that her vehicle lost control while she was traveling on the service road near Karsaz, leading to the accident.

The case was initially filed by Imtiaz Arif, the brother of the deceased, at the Bahadurabad police station. The police incorporated charges of culpable homicide and negligence into the FIR.

Imtiaz Arif reported learning about the accident through a phone call, and upon arrival at JPMC, he found his brother and niece had died. He claimed that the accident resulted from the suspect’s negligence, reckless driving, and speeding.

Further complicating the case, police reported that the suspect’s blood and urine tests revealed traces of methamphetamine, also known as crystal meth. This finding led to the addition of a charge related to the use of prohibited substances.

The JPMC had conducted these tests shortly after the accident, and the presence of the banned substance in the suspect’s system was confirmed by a fresh medico-legal report.

In summary, the decision by the victims’ heirs to pardon the suspect and their willingness to support bail underscores a significant development in this case.

Despite the serious charges and the presence of prohibited substances in the suspect’s system, the heirs’ choice to forgive reflects a commitment to resolution and reconciliation.
