Ten major cities in Punjab are facing a significant threat from organized criminal activities, with law enforcement grappling to apprehend dangerous suspects.
Police sources reveal that 960 individuals involved in serious crimes such as illegal occupation, extortion, kidnapping for ransom, and murder are currently at large.
The cities most impacted include Rawalpindi, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur, and Faisalabad, where criminal gangs have grown increasingly active. These cities, along with others, are under heightened alert as authorities struggle to manage the surge in criminal activity.
Police reports highlight that these suspects are linked to 273 different gangs operating throughout the province. Bahawalpur has emerged as the most problematic area, with 264 dangerous criminals still evading capture.
In Dera Ghazi Khan, 134 suspects involved in serious crimes remain at large. Faisalabad and Sahiwal are also significant concern areas, with 53 and 55 suspects, respectively, still unaccounted for.
Despite ongoing efforts by law enforcement, only 491 of the 1,451 identified suspects have been arrested, leaving 960 dangerous criminals still on the loose. This situation poses a serious threat to public safety and underscores the challenges faced by the police in curbing organized crime.
The difficulty in capturing these criminals raises questions about the effectiveness of current strategies and highlights the urgent need for more robust measures to address the organized crime problem in Punjab.
