Khawaja Imran Nazir Calls for Integration of Private Laboratories into Regulatory Framework
Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir announced on Saturday that the revamp of dispensaries across the province is currently underway.
The announcement came during a meeting of the Punjab Healthcare Commission, chaired by Khawaja Imran Nazir and Khawaja Salman Rafiq, Provincial Minister for Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education. The meeting, held in Lahore, included a performance briefing from Chief Executive Officer Dr. Saqib Aziz.
Nazir emphasized that the revamp aims to reduce reliance on unqualified medical practitioners and called for integrating private laboratories into a regulatory framework to ensure consistent standards.
Rafiq highlighted the Commission’s commitment to high-quality and safe healthcare facilities and noted that the board of the Commission would soon be reconstituted following directives from the Chief Minister.
The health ministers directed regular monitoring of government hospital licensing and actions against quackery. They also reaffirmed their commitment to the prompt construction of additional regional offices and the central headquarters for the Punjab Healthcare Commission.
