Tragic Plane Crash Near São Paulo: All 62 Onboard Presumed Dead

Tragic Plane Crash

On Friday, a tragic air disaster occurred in Brazil, involving an airliner that crashed with 62 people on board.

According to the country’s president, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, all passengers on the flight are presumed dead.

The incident took place near the town of Vinhedo, approximately 80 kilometers northwest of São Paulo.

The flight, operated by Voepass, had taken off from Cascavel in the state of Paraná and was en route to São Paulo’s main international airport.

Social media footage revealed the harrowing moments of the plane’s descent. The video showed the aircraft plummeting behind a cluster of trees before a large plume of black smoke rose from the crash site.

The airline, Voepass, has been unable to provide additional details regarding the cause of the crash.

The aircraft involved, identified by its PS-VPB registration, was an ATR 72-500 turboprop. ATR, the manufacturer of the aircraft, is a joint venture between Airbus and the Italian aerospace group Leonardo.

The São Paulo state fire brigade responded swiftly to the emergency, deploying seven crews to the crash site.

The extent of the damage and the challenges faced by the first responders were significant, given the scale of the incident.

In a somber statement made at a public event, President Lula da Silva expressed his condolences and called for a minute of silence to honor the victims of the crash.

He acknowledged the devastating impact of the accident and confirmed the heartbreaking news that all those on board are presumed to have perished.

The crash has not only shocked the nation but also raised numerous questions about aviation safety and the circumstances leading up to the disaster.

The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing, with authorities working to uncover the details of what went wrong.

The aviation community and the public await further updates as the investigation progresses.
