Pakistani Medical Mission: Providing Exceptional Healthcare for Hajj Pilgrims in Saudi Arabia

Pakistani Medical Mission

As the Hajj pilgrimage approaches, Pakistan’s Hajj Medical Mission (PHMM) stands ready to ensure the well-being and safety of Pakistani pilgrims in Saudi Arabia.

Led by Director Brigadier Jamil Ahmed Lakhair and comprising 400 dedicated members, the PHMM is fully equipped with a comprehensive stock of medicines to provide top-notch healthcare services.

The team, working tirelessly since the start of the month-long pre-Hajj flight operation on May 9, includes various medical specialists operating across two hospitals and 11 dispensaries in Makkah, Madinah, and Jeddah.

Brigadier Jamil assures readiness to handle any medical emergency with professionalism and competence.

This year, approximately 179,210 Pakistanis will perform Hajj under both government and private schemes.

Brigadier Jamil highlighted the diverse expertise within the PHMM team, encompassing specialists such as cardiologists, pulmonologists, dermatologists, and more.

Pakistan has established two hospitals and 11 dispensaries in the holy cities of Makkah, Madinah, and Jeddah to provide healthcare for Hajj pilgrims.

One main hospital and eight dispensaries are located in Makkah, one hospital and two dispensaries in Madinah, and one dispensary in Jeddah near the King Abdulaziz International Airport.

The PHMM consists of members selected by the Ministry of Religious Affairs, with 70 percent civilians and 30 percent from the armed forces.

Both hospitals are equipped with modern facilities for X-ray, ultrasound, lab testing, and minor procedures. Serious cases are referred to Saudi hospitals for further treatment.

Each dispensary has a doctor, paramedics, pharmacist, and ambulance available round the clock. Currently, around 1,300 pilgrims are visiting PHMM facilities daily, receiving free treatment, medicines, and basic blood tests.

The PHMM head advises pilgrims to take precautionary measures against heatstroke, including using face masks, umbrellas, and drinking plenty of water. He stresses saving energy for the challenging Hajj days in Mina, Muzdalifah, Arafat, and Jamarat.

Patients visiting PHMM facilities express satisfaction with the care received, enhancing their spiritual journey.

Muhammad Ilyas, Mehboob Hussain, and Muhammad Waheed share positive experiences of receiving VIP treatment, thorough examinations, and prompt assistance, contributing to their comfort and well-being during Hajj.
