Wife of Vietnamese Ambassador
The wife of Vietnam’s ambassador to Pakistan, Nguyen Tien Phong, was found four hours after she went missing in Islamabad, the Pakistani federal capital, on Saturday, according to Islamabad Police.
The federal capital police announced the successful tracing of the ambassador’s wife within the four-hour timeframe. They credited the swift resolution to the collaborative efforts of seven police teams utilizing safe city cameras and cellular technology.
After being located, the woman was safely returned home along with her husband.
Earlier in the day, her disappearance was reported to the police via a call to Helpline 15. Sources within the police indicated that she had left her residence in the morning, purportedly to visit a beauty parlour, but had not been reachable since. Consequently, an investigation was initiated under the supervision of the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) for security.
Margala Police Station conducted the search, focusing on the Margala Hills area, which is popular among tourists and hikers.
The circumstances surrounding her disappearance initially remained unclear. However, according to SSP Investigation Hassan Jahangir Watto, the ambassador’s wife had reportedly gone to the Mega Zone in Sector F-9 Park for swimming and bowling but had left the house due to an argument with her husband.
Later, Inspector General Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi met with the foreign ambassador, who expressed gratitude for the prompt action taken by the authorities.
The Interior Ministry, under Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, acknowledged the incident and directed Islamabad Police to ensure her “safe recovery.”
Earlier in the week, Islamabad Police had confirmed that Inspector General Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, along with an investigative team, had visited the residence of the Vietnamese ambassador.
Rizvi emphasized the prioritization of the safety and protection of all foreign ambassadors residing in Islamabad by the federal capital police.
