The business community in Faisalabad has taken legal action against Dr. Affan Qaiser, a renowned Pakistani Transplant Hepatologist and Gastroenterologist, following his controversial statement about watermelons being injected with harmful substances. This statement, they claim, has caused widespread panic and substantial financial losses.
The Faisalabad Traders Association has submitted an application to register a case at the Ghulam Muhammad Police Station. Dr. Affan’s social media post, which suggested that watermelons were being injected with dangerous substances, went viral and instilled fear among the public.
According to the petition filed by the traders, Dr. Affan’s statement has caused chaos, severely impacting both traders and landlords. They argue that the panic induced by his comments has led to billions of rupees in losses due to a sharp decline in watermelon sales.
The businessmen have issued a legal notice demanding Rs 10 billion in damages from Dr. Affan, holding him responsible for the economic disruption and undue stress caused by his unfounded claims.
“Dr. Affan’s reckless comments have not only harmed our businesses but also attempted to create nationwide chaos,” said a representative of the traders association. “We are seeking justice and accountability for the significant financial and emotional damage inflicted on us.”
