Dozens of Afghan nationals, including women and children, have been arrested over their human trafficking from Balochistan.
According to the latest reports, security forces foiled a human smuggling attempt in Balochistan’s Dasht Mirani area and arrested 58 Afghan nationals.
The security forces conducted an operation in the area on Monday. They intercepted a group of Afghan nationals who were allegedly being transported through a human smuggling network. The authorities said the detained individuals were staying in Pakistan illegally. Therefore, security personnel took them into custody during the operation. The arrested Afghan nationals will now be handed over to police for further legal proceedings under the relevant laws.
Operation targets illegal movement
Security officials said many Afghan nationals leave Afghanistan because of economic and social difficulties. However, some migrants become vulnerable to human smugglers who promise them routes to other countries.
According to authorities, some migrants use Pakistan as a transit route while attempting to reach Iran, Türkiye and European countries.
Meanwhile, security forces and law enforcement agencies have continued operations against networks involved in human smuggling.
Officials said such operations aim to prevent the illegal movement of people and disrupt organised smuggling networks operating across the region.
Authorities also said they would process all 58 detainees according to applicable laws. The arrested individuals include women and children who were travelling with the group.
Balochistan faces monitoring
The latest operation comes amid increased efforts to monitor illegal cross-border movement in Balochistan. Furthermore, authorities have intensified checks in areas vulnerable to human smuggling and illegal crossings. Security agencies continue to coordinate with police and other law enforcement bodies to identify and disrupt trafficking networks.
The authorities said further legal action would follow after police receive custody of the detained Afghan nationals. Officials have also urged people to avoid illegal travel networks that can expose migrants to exploitation and other risks.
