More than 50 women reportedly lost their mobile phones at a farmhouse in Karachi’s Gadap area after an event organizer disappeared with the devices.
The women had reportedly been invited for a job opportunity, but the gathering took an unexpected turn. The organizer allegedly collected their phones before leaving the farmhouse with the devices.
Why Were the Women Taken to the Farmhouse?
The women reportedly arrived at the farmhouse in two buses after being told they had been called for a job.
One of the affected women told police that they had been promised food, Rs. 2,000, and training. The training was reportedly related to setting up stalls at an event.
However, instead of going to a private housing society, the women were taken to the farmhouse. They were then told that their boss would hold a meeting there.
The situation changed when the women were asked to hand over their mobile phones.
How Were the Mobile Phones Collected?
According to police, the event organizer was identified as Salman. He allegedly told the women that filming was not permitted at the farmhouse.
He then collected their mobile phones from them. The women reportedly received receipts after handing over their devices.
However, they later realized that something was wrong. By the evening, Salman had allegedly left the farmhouse with the phones.
According to one woman’s statement, Salman fled on a motorcycle with another man. The phones were reportedly placed inside a bag as the two men left the premises.
What Happened at the Farmhouse?
The women later reached Gadap Police Station and shared details about the incident with police.
Police have taken the farmhouse manager into custody and recorded his statement. The investigation is focused on what happened to the phones after they were collected.
Meanwhile, the farmhouse administration has denied knowing that the devices would be taken.
The administration told police that it had been informed about a corporate event being organized at the location.
It said it was unaware that the women’s phones would be collected. The administration also stated that it had not received payment for the event.
Farmhouse Administration Gives Its Statement
The farmhouse management said it had been approached with information about a corporate event.
According to the administration, there was no indication that the event would involve collecting mobile phones from attendees.
The administration also confirmed that Salman had collected the devices before allegedly leaving the premises.
Police have recorded the manager’s statement as they look into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Women Reach Police Station After Phones Disappear
The affected women eventually went to Gadap Police Station after realizing that their phones were allegedly no longer at the farmhouse.
The incident has raised questions about how the women were brought to the location and why their phones were collected.
They had reportedly expected a job-related activity involving food, payment, and stall-setting training.
Instead, their phones were collected after they reached the farmhouse, and the organizer allegedly left with the devices.
Police are now examining the statements from the affected women and farmhouse management as the case develops.
