The operation was conducted on September 2 after reports indicated the presence of terrorists in the area.
Security forces identified, monitored and targeted a suspected terrorist hideout during the intelligence-based operation.
“During the conduct of operation, terrorists hideout was identified, monitored and busted through prompt surgical action by own forces killing all 12 India-sponsored terrorists,” the ISPR said.
A cache of ammunition and improvised explosive devices was also destroyed at the site during the operation.
Meanwhile, sanitisation operations are continuing to locate and eliminate any other India-sponsored terrorists who may remain in the area.
The security forces have also vowed to maintain their counterterrorism campaign against foreign-sponsored terrorism across the country.
Balochistan Police Foil Attack on Bhag Police Station
Separately, Balochistan police foiled a terrorist attack in Bhag city and prevented militants from taking control of a police station.
The attackers also attempted to seize weapons from the facility during the assault.
Balochistan Chief Minister’s Adviser Shahid Rind said around 40 terrorists attacked the police station, a bank and the assistant commissioner’s office.
The militants reportedly used heavy weapons, rockets and hand grenades during the attack.
At least two policemen and three civilians suffered injuries during the firing, according to Rind.
Despite the assault, the terrorists failed to loot any cash from the bank.
The Bomb Disposal Unit also defused an improvised explosive device planted inside the bank.
The incident highlights the continuing security pressure faced by Balochistan, where militant activity remains a serious concern.
KP and Balochistan Remain Major Violence Hotspots
Pakistan has experienced a rise in terrorist activity since 2021, particularly across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
The increase followed the Afghan Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan.
Both provinces remained the country’s main violence hotspots during the second quarter of 2026.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa emerged as the worst-affected region during the period.
KP and Balochistan together accounted for nearly 96% of all violence-related fatalities recorded during the quarter.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa reported more than 61% of the total deaths, with 475 fatalities recorded during the period. Balochistan accounted for another 34%, with 265 deaths reported during the same quarter.
KP also recorded the highest number of violent incidents, with 151 cases during the quarter.
Those incidents represented 57% of the total violent incidents recorded nationwide. Balochistan followed with 94 incidents, accounting for 35% of the national total.
The figures underline the concentration of militant activity in the two provinces.
Meanwhile, the latest Kalat operation and the foiled Bhag attack reflect the continuing security challenges facing Balochistan.
Security forces and police continue operations aimed at preventing further militant attacks and eliminating terrorist threats.
