Since Pakistan could not see the Zilhaj moon, Eid-ul-Adha will be commemorated on Sunday as previously scheduled by the Central Ruete-e-Hilal Committee (July 10).
Committee Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad gave a news conference after the meeting to announce the verdict.
Participants included leaders from religious and scientific ministries, SPARCO, the Meteorological Department and the Ministry of Science & Technology at a conference held in Karachi on the Central Ruet-e-hilal Committee.
Islamabad, Quetta, and Peshawar were also the locations of Zonal Ruet-e-Hilal Committee meetings.
Whereas, the Zilhaj moon has been sighted in Saudi Arabia, after which Hajj will begin on July 6 with Arafat Day on July 8.
Eid-ul-Adha commemorates the commitment of the Prophet Ibrahim to Allah, which is the focus of the ceremonies.
