Singer thanks fans as popular reality show prepares for comeback
KARACHI: Singer and Pakistan Idol judge Zeb Bangash has confirmed that the popular music reality show will return after its unexpected suspension earlier this year, bringing relief to fans who were left waiting for the season finale.
Bangash shared the announcement through her Instagram Stories on Tuesday, posting a collage of behind-the-scenes photographs alongside an earlier video from the programme’s makeup room.
“Our Pakistan Idol bulbuls are back and so are we,” she wrote, adding that the show would be returning soon.
She also thanked viewers for their continued support, saying, “Thank you all for the love and for missing us so much. We missed you too.”
The singer had previously hinted at the programme’s return after responding with a smiling emoji to a fan who asked whether Pakistan Idol was coming back.
Finale was postponed in March
Pakistan Idol’s second season came to an abrupt halt on March 31, just before its finale, leaving contestants and viewers without a winner.
At the time, the show’s organisers announced that the finale had been postponed because of rising regional tensions and calls for national austerity. They said it was inappropriate to continue a large-scale entertainment event while the security situation remained uncertain.
The programme had been scheduled to resume after the Ramazan break, with the final round only weeks away before production was suspended.
Broadcast date yet to be announced
In their earlier statement, organisers assured contestants that their journey had not ended and that the finale would take place at a later date.
Although Bangash has now confirmed the show’s return, neither the producers nor the other judges have publicly announced an official broadcast date for the remaining episodes.
The programme’s revival is expected to generate renewed interest among audiences eager to see the competition conclude and discover which finalist will be crowned the winner of the second season.
Further details regarding the schedule and the delayed finale are expected to be announced by the production team in the coming weeks.
