ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan today disqualified PTI MNA Zartaj Gul and two other opposition lawmakers.
According to the ECP, they failed to submit their statements about their assets and liabilities.
The disqualified MNAs are Zartaj Gul, Sahibzada Muhammad Hamid Raza and Abdul Latif Chitrali.
The ECP took action after the three lawmakers failed to submit the required Form B containing their assets and liabilities.
The commission issued the decision under an order dated August 7, 2026.
It ruled that the former lawmakers cannot contest elections until they submit the required statements to the electoral body.
Zartaj Gul served in the National Assembly from August 2018 until January 17, 2023.
She later returned to parliament after winning the Dera Ghazi Khan seat in the 2024 general elections.
Gul also became parliamentary leader of the Sunni Ittehad Council on June 23, 2024.
Meanwhile, she faced legal proceedings linked to the May 9, 2023 riots and received a 10-year prison sentence in 2025.
The Election Commission subsequently disqualified her on August 5, 2025, following her conviction in the May 9 cases.
Sahibzada Muhammad Hamid Raza is a Pakistani politician and religious scholar who founded the Sunni Ittehad Council in 2013.
He became chairman of the council after succeeding his father, Fazal Karim.
Raza served in the National Assembly from February 2024 until August 2025, when the ECP disqualified him over alleged involvement in the May 9 riots.
Authorities arrested him in November 2025 after his conviction, and a court sentenced him to 10 years in prison.
Abdul Latif Chitrali served as an MNA from February 29, 2025, until July 29, 2025. The ECP disqualified Chitrali on July 29, 2025, under Article 63 of the Constitution.
