The Pentagon has acknowledged reports of attacks on the USS Carney and commercial vessels in the Red Sea. Yemen’s Houthi group claimed responsibility for drone and missile attacks on two Israeli vessels, Unity Explorer and Number Nine.
The Houthi spokesperson stated that the ships were targeted for rejecting warnings, citing the Yemeni people’s demands and calls from Islamic nations to support the Palestinian cause.
The USS Carney, according to a US official, successfully intercepted drones in multiple engagements. Other sources reported drone attacks on a bulk carrier and a container ship in the Red Sea, with the latter sustaining damage near Hodeidah, Yemen. Last month, the Houthis seized an Israeli-linked cargo ship, and there have been previous Houthi attacks on Israeli vessels.
The UK Maritime Trade Operations agency received reports of a drone attack in the Bab al-Mandab strait. A US Navy warship responded to a distress call from an Israeli-managed tanker seized by armed individuals in the Gulf of Aden last week. An Israeli military spokesperson has not yet commented on the reported incident.
Dozens Killed In Fresh Israeli Bombing On Jabalia Refugee Camp In Gaza
Meanwhile, the Jabalia refugee camp in Gaza became a target of Israeli strikes on Sunday, raising fears of numerous casualties and people trapped under the debris. This is the second attack on this refugee camp in violation of the United Nations and human rights charters.
Ground footage depicted widespread destruction in residential areas, with individuals seen carrying the deceased and injured away from the impact zone. Last month, a double Israeli strike on the Jabalia refugee camp resulted in the death of over 80 people.
In a recent dawn attack on the UN-run Al-Fakhura school within the camp, converted into a shelter for displaced Palestinians, at least 50 people were reported killed, according to an official from the Gaza Strip health ministry told the media.
This marks the second occasion Israeli forces have struck Jabalia, the largest refugee camp in the besieged strip. Continuous Israeli strikes are hampering rescue efforts, making it challenging for responders to reach the victims.
