Yemen’s internationally recognised armed forces said Friday that they carried out 474 airstrikes and precision operations against Houthi positions and military capabilities over a 24-hour period.
Military spokesman Majed al-Nazili claimed the operations killed or wounded 1,540 Houthi fighters and targeted reinforcements, military positions and equipment.
According to the spokesman, the operations involved warplanes, drones, artillery, missiles and rocket launchers. They covered several fronts, stretching from southern Haradh and Yemen’s western coast to Kitaf, Al-Jawf, Marib, Al-Bayda, Lahj, Sanaa and Saada.
Al-Nazili said fighting was particularly intense in Taiz, where the army reported most of the Houthi casualties. The military also claimed that 216 vehicles and other military assets were destroyed or disabled.
The Houthis issued a separate account, alleging that Saudi forces conducted 94 air and missile strikes during the same period. They said the attacks targeted areas under Houthi control, including Sanaa, Saada, Taiz, Hajjah, Amran and Ibb.
Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree claimed the strikes caused civilian casualties and said the number of Saudi attacks since the latest escalation had reached 1,350.
The competing claims could not be independently verified.
Meanwhile, the Saudi-led coalition said it intercepted and destroyed three ballistic missiles launched by the Houthis toward the southern Saudi city of Khamis Mushait, as fighting and cross-border attacks intensified.
