Yemeni army killed dozens of Houthis during clashes and airstrikes. Yemen’s army announced today that more than 30 Houthi fighters have been killed in recent clashes and airstrikes.
Additionally, over 60 Houthi fighters have sustained injuring in the past 24 hours of clashes and airstrikes in Taiz.
A military official told the Armed Forces Media Centre that Yemeni warplanes also targeted Houthi vehicles and gathering points in Al-Waziyah district.
Earlier, the army said its aircraft struck Houthi supply routes and deployment sites in Taiz and the Red Sea port city of Mocha. Government forces also reported repelling Houthi attacks and targeting their positions and reinforcements in Taiz.
Meanwhile, Italy said it could independently escort merchant vessels through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait without waiting for an EU naval mission.
Defence Minister Guido Crosetto said military officials were assessing security conditions and preparing plans to ensure safe passage through the strategic waterway.
According to ANSA, Italy’s frigate Bergamini remains in Djibouti while around 12 Italian-flagged or Italian-owned vessels seek escorted passage. Crosetto said delays could increase costs and further damage businesses and households already affected by disrupted maritime trade.
At the same time, Iran said its forces struck a Togo-flagged oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz after accusing it of attempting an illegal crossing.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy said the tanker Trend caught fire after its forces hit the vessel overnight.
Iranian authorities said the ship had received encouragement from the US military before attempting to cross the strategic waterway. The IRGC Navy also warned shipowners and crews against unauthorized passage through Hormuz.
The developments highlight growing security risks across key maritime routes connecting the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden and Persian Gulf.
