New rotary shaver offers adaptive motor, long battery life and water resistance
BEIJING: Xiaomi has unveiled its latest Mijia Electric Shaver on its Youpin platform in China, introducing a feature-rich grooming device at an affordable price.
The shaver carries a retail price of approximately $36 but is currently available at an introductory price of around $29. Although Xiaomi has not announced international availability, the company’s expanding presence in markets such as Pakistan has fuelled expectations that the product could eventually launch there.
The new Mijia Electric Shaver features a three-head rotary design with a dual-ring cutting system. Xiaomi says the blades use an irregular corrugated foil produced through metal injection moulding alongside concave stainless steel blades to improve hair capture while reducing pulling and snagging. According to the company, the redesigned cutting system improves shaving efficiency by about 48 percent compared with the previous model.
Adaptive performance and user comfort
The shaver is powered by a motor capable of delivering up to five million cutting actions per minute. It also incorporates an intelligent chip that monitors blade resistance approximately 100 times every second, automatically increasing motor speed and power when shaving denser facial hair.
To improve comfort, Xiaomi has equipped the device with a micro-bead coating that reduces skin friction and a low-nickel stainless steel foil that complies with European nickel release standards. Meanwhile, a 360-degree floating shaving head helps maintain close contact with facial contours, including the jawline and chin.
Long battery life and easy maintenance
The Mijia Electric Shaver supports USB-C charging and reaches a full charge in about two hours. Xiaomi claims the battery can last up to 90 days based on one minute of daily use, while the device also supports corded operation if the battery runs low.
Additionally, the shaver carries an IPX7 water-resistance rating, allowing both wet and dry shaving. It supports full rinsing under water and includes a pop-up cleaning mechanism, travel lock and LED battery indicator.
Currently, the product is available only through Xiaomi’s Youpin platform in China, with no official announcement regarding a global launch.
