Upcoming foldable abandons Mix Fold branding as Xiaomi claims record-breaking performance from its second-generation flagship processor
BEIJING: Xiaomi has officially confirmed that its next-generation foldable smartphone will launch as the Xiaomi 18 Fold, abandoning the Mix Fold 5 name previously expected for the device.
The Chinese technology company plans to unveil the smartphone in September 2026. Moreover, the 18 Fold will become the first device powered by Xiaomiโs second-generation Xring O3 flagship chipset.
Xiaomi President Lu Weibing has already started using the foldable publicly, while the company has opened reservations in China ahead of its official introduction. However, Xiaomi has not yet disclosed complete pricing or international availability details.
Xring O3 Crosses Five-Million AnTuTu Mark
According to Xiaomiโs testing, the Xring O3 achieved 5,228,014 points on AnTuTu V11, becoming the first flagship mobile processor to cross five million points.
The company manufactures the chipset using a 3nm process and packs approximately 24 billion transistors into the processor, compared with 19 billion in the previous Xring O1.
Meanwhile, its 10-core CPU includes two C1-Ultra cores reaching 4.35GHz, four C1-Premium cores running up to 3.68GHz and four C1-Pro cores reaching 3.15GHz.
Xiaomi also claims a Geekbench 6 multi-core score of 15,221 and single-core performance of around 3,945 points.
Graphics, Memory and AI Receive Major Upgrades
Furthermore, Xiaomi has equipped the Xring O3 with a 16-core G2-Ultra NX GPU. The company claims conventional graphics performance improves by up to 85%, while ray-tracing performance rises by as much as 182%.
The chipset also supports LPDDR6 memory, delivering bandwidth of up to 113.8GB/s.
Additionally, Xiaomi says its redesigned neural processing unit delivers up to 200 TOPS of tensor computing performance and supports MiMo on-device AI models.
Overall, Xiaomi claims on-device artificial intelligence performance has improved by 45%.
The company will reveal the Xiaomi 18 Foldโs complete specifications, pricing and availability closer to its September launch.
