Pakistan has introduced a new initiative to support international travellers facing immigration-related confusion. The Federal Investigation Agency has established pre-departure facilitation desks at airports and border points nationwide. The move follows persistent complaints and online rumours about passengers being offloaded from international flights.
Officials say the desks will provide clear guidance on immigration procedures before passengers reach boarding stages.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced the initiative while stressing the need for smoother overseas travel. He stated the service aims to reduce uncertainty and prevent last-minute disruptions at departure counters. According to the minister, passengers can access the desks physically at airports and border crossings. In addition, helplines and official email support will remain available for travellers seeking advance clarification.
Addressing Offloading Concerns and Misinformation
In recent months, social media platforms amplified claims of arbitrary passenger offloading. These reports triggered concern among travellers planning work, study, or family trips abroad. However, authorities clarified that passengers with complete and legal documents face no restrictions. The FIA previously stated it only stops individuals attempting illegal travel after proper profiling.
The new desks aim to counter misinformation by offering direct, verified guidance. Travellers can confirm document requirements before check-in, reducing anxiety and delays. Officials believe early clarification will prevent misunderstandings between passengers and immigration staff.
