ISLAMABAD/LAHORE: The Pakistan Peoples Party is set to hold its rally at Greater Iqbal Park in Lahore on July 25 (Saturday). The party has almost completed the arrangements to hold a mammoth rally in the stronghold of PML(N) in Lahore. The PPP, which is ruling Sindh, Balochistan, wants to test of street power in the stronghold of PML-N in Lahore tomorrow.
Final Arrangements Underway at Minar-e-Pakistan
PPP Lahore President Faisal Mir inspected the venue on Thursday with local leaders and party workers. He reviewed arrangements for the major gathering.
Mir thanked Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for allowing the party to hold the rally. He said the approval strengthened democratic traditions.
However, Mir said the chief ministerโs principal secretary had only conveyed the approval verbally. The party still awaits formal written permission for the event.
Party workers reached the venue on July 23 and will stay overnight. They will continue preparations until the rally begins.
Bilawal to Address Supporters Through Video Link
The rally will start at 8pm on July 25. PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will address participants through a video link.
Meanwhile, former prime minister Raja Pervez Ashraf, Hasan Murtaza, Qamar Zaman Kaira and other senior leaders will address the gathering.
Mir also announced a special celebration during the event. Party leaders will cut a 24-foot-high cake to mark President Asif Ali Zardariโs birthday.
The rally is expected to draw PPP supporters from across Lahore. Party workers have also intensified efforts to ensure smooth arrangements at the historic venue.
