Kuwait’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah will visit Pakistan from July 28 to 29, the Foreign Office said Monday.
The visit will take place at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, according to an official statement.
During his stay, Sheikh Al-Sabah will hold talks with Dar and review the full range of bilateral relations between Pakistan and Kuwait.
The two sides will also exchange views on regional and international developments of mutual interest, the Foreign Office said.
Furthermore, the Kuwaiti minister is expected to pay a courtesy call on Pakistan’s leadership during his visit.
The Foreign Office said the visit reflects the shared commitment of Pakistan and Kuwait to strengthening their longstanding partnership.
It added that both countries seek to expand cooperation for their mutual benefit.
Pakistan, Kuwait discuss expanded defence cooperation
The visit comes days after reports emerged that Pakistan and Kuwait were negotiating an expanded defence agreement linked to energy cooperation and investment.
According to five sources familiar with the discussions, Kuwait is seeking a broader security arrangement with Islamabad.
Pakistan and Kuwait have maintained a limited defence agreement since 2023, focusing mainly on military training and joint exercises.
However, a Pakistani government official said Kuwait now wants stronger security cooperation similar to Pakistan’s defence pact with Saudi Arabia.
The proposed arrangement could involve the deployment of thousands of Pakistani troops, fighter jets, drones and air defence systems.
The talks indicate growing efforts by both countries to deepen defence, economic and strategic cooperation.
