Pakistani actor and television host Faysal Quraishi has strongly criticised the belief that married daughters should never return to their parents’ homes.
He said parents must continue supporting their daughters after marriage, especially when they face injustice, mistreatment or physical abuse.
Quraishi shared his views during an appearance on Vasay Chaudhry’s talk show Gup Shab. He was discussing earlier remarks about married daughters while promoting his upcoming Punjabi film Mango Jutt.
The actor rejected the idea that a daughter should return to her parents only after death. He questioned how families could raise daughters with love and care, but then abandon them after marriage.
Quraishi said marriage should not end a parent’s responsibility toward their daughter.
He also criticised families that refuse to accept daughters back even when they know they are being abused by husbands or in-laws.
According to Quraishi, parents should not allow social pressure or traditional expectations to become more important than their daughter’s safety and dignity.
He stressed that married women deserve the same love, respect and protection from their families that they received before marriage.
During the discussion, Quraishi also praised a television drama that showed a husband supporting his wife. However, details about the drama and its characters were not fully confirmed in the report.
His remarks have attracted attention because they address a sensitive social issue affecting many families.
The comments also highlight the importance of family support for women facing difficult or abusive marriages.
Quraishi is currently preparing for the release of Mango Jutt, which is scheduled to hit cinemas on October 16.
