LAHORE: A domestic dispute turned deadly in Lahore on Tuesday morning when a man allegedly killed his wife and three relatives. The suspect then shot himself and died at the scene. Police identified the suspect as Imran Shaukat. According to investigators, he had married Samia Bibi around six months ago.
However, Samia had reportedly been staying at her parents’ home since the marriage. The suspect allegedly wanted her to return to his home with him.
Dispute Turns Into Deadly Shooting
Imran Shaukat reportedly arrived at his in-laws’ residence in Barkat Colony, located in Lahore’s Chung area. He reached the house around 5:45 am while carrying a rifle.
Police said the suspect demanded that his wife return home with him. However, a confrontation followed between him and the family members.
During the dispute, Imran allegedly opened fire inside the house. A bullet struck Samia Bibi in the head, killing her at the scene.
Family members reportedly attempted to intervene after the shooting. However, the suspect allegedly continued firing at them.
Police said Samia’s father, Ali Khan, suffered multiple bullet wounds to his chest. He died from his injuries.
The suspect also shot 21-year-old Zeeshan Khan, Samia’s brother, in the back. Her mother, Shumaila, also died after sustaining gunshot wounds.
Suspect Dies After Shooting Himself
After killing four members of his wife’s family, Imran allegedly turned the rifle on himself. He shot himself in the head and died.
Following the incident, police teams reached the residence and secured the crime scene. Investigators also began collecting evidence to establish what happened.
Authorities shifted the victims’ bodies to Jinnah Hospital for post-mortem examinations. Meanwhile, police continued investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Investigators are examining the events that led to the confrontation and the subsequent killings. Further findings are expected to clarify the motive and circumstances behind the tragic incident.
