The White House has rejected reports claiming a disagreement between President Donald Trump and Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth over the Iran conflict. Officials described the report as false and reaffirmed the president’s confidence in his defence chief.
White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt dismissed a report published by The Washington Post. She insisted that the alleged clash between Trump and Hegseth never occurred.
Leavitt said she was present with both officials at Camp David. Therefore, she rejected claims that any confrontation took place.
Karoline Leavitt Rejects Washington Post Report
Responding to a journalist who shared the report, Leavitt said the White House repeatedly informed The Washington Post that the story was inaccurate.
She also accused several media organisations of attempting to undermine Hegseth. However, she did not provide further details about those claims.
White House Reaffirms Support For Defence Secretary
Leavitt stressed that President Trump continues to support Hegseth. Furthermore, she said the president believes the defence secretary is performing his duties effectively.
She concluded by describing the report as “fake news” while reiterating that Trump remains fully satisfied with Hegseth’s performance.
