The federal government has introduced tariff concessions on 90 items imported from Uzbekistan. The concessions include reduced rates of Customs Duty, Additional Customs Duty and Regulatory Duty.
The new measures took effect on August 14, 2026. The move aims to facilitate trade between Pakistan and Uzbekistan under their preferential trade framework.
The Federal Board of Revenue issued a notification under the Pakistan-Uzbekistan Preferential Trade Expansion Agreement. The notification outlines the applicable concessions for the selected imported items.
FBR Updates Import Duty Structure
According to S.R.O. 1349(I)/2026, the federal government has amended an earlier notification issued in 2023. The amendment updates the duty treatment for imports covered under the bilateral trade arrangement.
The FBR has also specified the extent of exemptions and concessions available on the selected products. These include Customs Duty, Additional Customs Duty and Regulatory Duty.
The updated framework provides importers with clearer information about the applicable tariff rates. It also establishes the duty concessions available for eligible goods originating from Uzbekistan.
Concessions Aim to Facilitate Bilateral Trade
The tariff changes form part of Pakistanโs efforts to strengthen trade ties with Uzbekistan. Preferential rates can reduce import costs and make eligible products more competitive in the Pakistani market.
Moreover, lower duties can encourage businesses to explore additional trade opportunities between the two countries. The concessions could also support greater movement of goods under the existing preferential trade arrangement.
The government has specified the applicable exemptions through the latest FBR notification. Importers dealing in the covered products can therefore benefit from the revised tariff structure from August 14.
The notification represents another step towards facilitating bilateral commerce. It also provides a formal framework for implementing the agreed tariff concessions on imports from Uzbekistan.
