Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Korangi Fida Hussain Janori has denied any connection to a viral video showing women fighting in Defence, Karachi.
The video has circulated widely on social media, accompanied by claims linking the incident to the police officer’s family.
However, Janori has rejected those claims and described them as baseless.
He clarified that the woman seen in the video is neither his wife nor his sister.
He also said a girl around his daughter’s age was falsely identified as his wife on social media.
“Playing the video by attributing it to me is a systematic attempt to assassinate my character,” he said.
SSP Korangi Seeks Action Over Viral Claims
Janori said he would pursue legal action against people who shared the video while falsely associating it with him.
He also confirmed that he had approached the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA).
According to Janori, the complaint seeks action against individuals allegedly spreading false information about his family.
The clarification follows the rapid circulation of the footage across social media platforms.
The controversy has consequently raised questions about how quickly unverified claims can spread online.
What Happened in Defence?
The controversy is connected to an incident reported nine days earlier in Karachi’s Defence area.
The incident occurred at a residential flat in the Khayaban-e-Bukhari Commercial Area.
A dispute over parking between two families reportedly escalated into a violent confrontation involving several women.
CCTV footage from the incident later circulated on social media.
The footage appeared to show one woman being allegedly subjected to violence during the altercation.
Police personnel and a police vehicle were also visible at the scene.
However, the identities and roles of individuals seen in the footage remain part of the ongoing investigation.
Government Weapon Seen in CCTV Footage
The CCTV footage also showed a man in plain clothes damaging the surveillance camera.
The man was allegedly carrying a government weapon at the time.
Sources cited in the original report alleged that the individual was a Korangi police officer.
However, authorities have not concluded the matter, and the role of police personnel remains under investigation.
The development has added another dimension to the controversy surrounding the Defence incident.
DIG South Orders Inquiry
Following the circulation of the videos, DIG South Asad Raza took notice of the matter. He ordered an inquiry into the incident.
SSP Investigation South Tohidur Rehman was tasked with conducting the investigation.
The inquiry is expected to examine the circumstances surrounding the confrontation and the presence of police personnel at the location. It will also look into the conduct of officials reportedly seen in the CCTV footage.
Meanwhile, the legal proceedings in the underlying case are still continuing.
Police Case Remains Under Investigation
Police have confirmed that the challan has not yet been submitted in the case. Authorities have also dropped provisions related to snatching and theft from the case.
At the same time, the role of police personnel seen in the footage remains under investigation.
Therefore, the allegations circulating on social media should not be treated as established facts before the inquiry reaches a conclusion.
Janori’s denial has also shifted attention toward the separate issue of alleged misinformation surrounding the viral footage.
For now, both the Defence incident and the claims connecting it to the SSP remain subjects of official scrutiny.
The NCCIA complaint will also determine whether action is taken against those accused of spreading false claims about Janori and his family.
