Pakistan and China have taken another step toward strengthening bilateral cooperation as Gujrat and Loudi City in China’s Hunan Province signed a sister city and economic cooperation agreement. The partnership aims to expand collaboration across several sectors, including trade, investment, agriculture, education, tourism, and technology.
The agreement reflects the growing relationship between the two countries. Moreover, it creates new opportunities for regional development while encouraging stronger people-to-people and business ties.
Gujrat and Loudi Formalize Sister City Partnership
The agreement was signed during a ceremony attended by senior Pakistani and Chinese officials.
Punjab Minister for Industries and Commerce Chaudhry Shafay Hussain signed the agreement alongside Loudi Deputy Mayor Yang Wei. The ceremony was also attended by Chinese Consul General Sun Yan and a high-level government delegation from Loudi.
With the signing completed, both cities committed to promoting long-term cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

Under the new partnership, Gujrat and Loudi will strengthen cooperation in several important sectors.

Speaking at the ceremony, Punjab Minister Chaudhry Shafay Hussain congratulated both sides on reaching the agreement. He also highlighted the investment opportunities available to Chinese companies across Punjab.
The minister pointed to the province’s Special Economic Zones, saying they offer attractive opportunities for foreign investors. Furthermore, he noted that the Punjab government has created a business-friendly environment in line with the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to encourage both domestic and international investment.
He also welcomed the visiting Chinese delegation and described its visit as an important step toward expanding economic cooperation between Gujrat and Loudi.
China Reaffirms Strong Partnership with Pakistan
During the event, Chinese Consul General Sun Yan emphasized the longstanding relationship between Pakistan and China.
He noted that both countries have completed 75 years of diplomatic relations, adding that their partnership continues to grow through mutual trust, friendship, and economic cooperation.
Sun Yan also expressed confidence that the new sister city agreement would strengthen bilateral ties even further. He described the signing ceremony as a historic occasion and welcomed the new chapter of cooperation between the two cities.
