12 Members of Same Family Among Victims in Tragic Collision
The death toll in the deadly M9 Motorway crash has risen to 14. The accident occurred near Kathore on the M9 Motorway. Rescue officials confirmed that more victims died during treatment.
Earlier, 11 bodies were shifted to the Edhi Foundation mortuary at Sohrab Goth. Three injured victims later succumbed to their wounds. Five people remain under medical treatment.
Rescue sources said women and children were among the deceased. Several passengers reportedly fell from a bridge due to the impact. The collision involved an oil tanker, a passenger coach, and multiple vehicles.
Police said the coach was travelling on the wrong side of the motorway. The crash happened on Friday near Kathore. The force of the collision caused severe damage to the vehicles.
Relatives told media that 12 of the deceased belonged to the same family. The family had travelled from Kotri to attend a wedding in Shah Latif Town. The accident occurred while they were returning home.
Family members said the bodies would be transported back to Kotri for burial after legal formalities. Scenes of grief were witnessed outside the mortuary as relatives waited for updates.
Police and Government Respond to M9 Motorway Tragedy
Police confirmed that the oil tanker driver, identified as Rafiullah, also died in the crash. Rescue officials said a three-year-old child named Imran passed away during treatment.
Javed Akhtar Odho directed officers to secure the accident site. He ordered an immediate response to assist rescue and investigation efforts.
Asif Ali Zardari expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy. He offered condolences to the grieving families. He also prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.
In an official statement, the president instructed the Sindh government to provide the best possible medical treatment. Authorities said emergency services were mobilised quickly after the crash.
