Chinese humanoid robots made an unusual appearance in Riyadh by performing Saudi Arabia’s traditional Ardah sword dance. The robots appeared at a reception celebrating the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
The Chinese Embassy in Saudi Arabia organized the event at the Cultural Palace in Riyadh’s Diplomatic Quarter.
Humanoid Robots Perform Saudi Ardah
Dressed in traditional Saudi clothing, the humanoid robots took part in the cultural performance. Their outfits included thobes, ghutras, agals and green scarves featuring the Saudi emblem of two swords and a palm tree.
During the performance, the robots carried sticks and performed coordinated movements inspired by the traditional Najdi Ardah.

Chinese Ambassador Attends Riyadh Reception
Riyadh Region Mayor Prince Faisal bin Abdulaziz bin Ayyaf attended the reception alongside Chinese Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Chang Hua.
Diplomats, officials and other guests also attended the event.
Speaking during the reception, Chang Hua said the embassy had organized the gathering to commemorate the anniversary. He also thanked the guests for attending the event.
“Chinese-manufactured robots delivered stunning performances that left a profound impression on those in attendance,” the ambassador said.
