Former Pakistan captain urges DHA residents to report verified information about missing German Shepherd
KARACHI: Former Pakistan cricket captain Wasim Akram has appealed to the public for assistance in locating his missing pet dog, Duke, after the five-month-old German Shepherd disappeared from DHA Phase 8 in Karachi.
Akram shared the appeal on his official Instagram account, asking residents to remain alert and contact the family if they have any information that could help bring the puppy home safely.
According to the appeal, Duke is a black, long-coated German Shepherd with no visible markings. The family believes the puppy may have wandered away from home and could be in nearby residential areas.
Family requests community support
Wasim Akram and his wife, Shaniera Akram, have appealed to residents, security personnel and members of the local community to assist in the search.
They requested people to carefully check parks, gardens, streets, rooftops, garages and other nearby locations where the puppy might have taken shelter.
The family emphasised that even small pieces of credible information could prove valuable in locating Duke and urged anyone with relevant details to come forward.
Reward offered for credible information
To encourage public assistance, the family has announced a reward of Rs250,000 for information leading to Duke’s safe recovery or for anyone who helps return the puppy home.
They also appealed to social media users to share only verified information and avoid circulating rumours or unconfirmed reports about the dog’s whereabouts, saying inaccurate information could hinder the search.
As of the latest update, Duke had not been found, and efforts to locate the missing pet were continuing.
The appeal has attracted widespread attention on social media, with many fans and animal lovers sharing the post in hopes of helping reunite the Akram family with their pet. Residents of DHA Phase 8 and surrounding neighbourhoods have been encouraged to remain vigilant and report any confirmed sightings as the search continues.
