Warren Buffett is reportedly delaying his usual mid-year multibillion-dollar donation to the Gates Foundation while awaiting the outcome of an internal review related to the foundation’s past engagement with Jeffrey Epstein.
According to the report, Buffett plans to wait for the findings before deciding whether to proceed with the donation later this year.
The reported decision marks a departure from Buffett’s long-established pattern of making large annual contributions to the foundation.
Over the past two decades, Buffett has donated more than $47 billion worth of Berkshire Hathaway stock to support the foundation’s work.
However, this year’s timeline appears to have shifted as attention remains focused on the review process.
Foundation Review Focuses on Past Engagement With Epstein
The Gates Foundation has faced public scrutiny in recent months because of questions surrounding Chairman Bill Gates’ past association with Jeffrey Epstein.
Reports also noted that emails released earlier this year by the US Department of Justice showed communication between Epstein and foundation staff.
In response, Gates Foundation Chief Executive Officer Mark Suzman commissioned an external review.
The review aims to assess the foundation’s past engagement with Epstein and evaluate relevant historical interactions.
According to reports, the findings are expected during the summer. As a result, attention has turned toward whether those findings could influence future decisions.

According to reports, Buffett may postpone his decision until later in the year. The report suggested that an announcement could potentially come around the time of his annual Thanksgiving letter. At present, no official confirmation regarding the final timing has been announced.
Meanwhile, requests for comment reportedly did not receive immediate responses from Berkshire Hathaway or the Gates Foundation. Therefore, questions surrounding the donation decision remain unresolved.

Bill Gates has faced increased public attention following the release of files connected to Epstein.
However, Gates has not been accused of any crimes. He has repeatedly expressed regret regarding his association with Epstein. Gates has also denied spending time with victims of Epstein’s sexual abuse.
In addition, he has stated that he never witnessed criminal conduct by Epstein.
