Police and CTD eliminate Naseer Muhammad alias Geedarh, carrying Rs6 million bounty, as security operations continue across Domel
PESHAWAR: Police and Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) personnel killed a highly wanted militant commander during an intelligence-based operation in Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, officials confirmed on Thursday.
Bannu District Police Officer Captain (retd) Muhammad Furqan Bilal identified the slain commander as Naseer Muhammad, alias Geedarh. Authorities had placed a Rs6 million bounty on him because of his alleged involvement in militant activities.
According to police, security personnel launched the operation after receiving intelligence about the presence and movement of militants within the jurisdiction of Domel Police Station.
Security Teams Expand Operations Across Domel
Meanwhile, police and CTD teams continued targeted operations in Akbar Ali Khan Kili, Sada Khel, Sadarwan and surrounding areas under the DPO’s supervision.
Security personnel also intensified search and surveillance activities while strengthening security across different parts of Bannu township and Domel.
Police said they would release additional information after completing the continuing operation.
The latest action comes amid intensified counterterrorism operations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where authorities have confronted increased militant violence in recent years.
Bannu Remains Focus of Counterterrorism Campaign
Earlier this week, district police, CTD personnel and security forces conducted another joint intelligence-based operation within the jurisdiction of Miryan Police Station in Bannu. Officials said security personnel killed one militant and detained 10 suspects during that operation.
Separately, security forces recently killed seven militants during an operation in Hangu district, while an army captain lost his life. Authorities also reported killing militant commander Jamidullah during another operation in Bannu’s Jani Khel area.
Pakistan has witnessed a renewed wave of militant attacks since 2021. Islamabad has repeatedly called on Afghanistan’s Taliban authorities to prevent militant groups, particularly the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, from using Afghan territory for cross-border activities.
According to the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies, militant violence and counterterrorism operations intensified significantly during July, making it the deadliest month of 2026.
