Former Federal Minister Senator Faisal Vawda has stated that former DG ISI General (retd) Faiz Hameed is likely to face either a life sentence or the death penalty.
Vawda, speaking on a private news channel stated, “I’m going abroad to bring good news. The reversal of court decisions is a national disgrace. It seems that Gandapur is set to remain Chief Minister, and Barrister Gujjar is expected to be PTI’s chairman. However, the government and PTI are aiming to keep Imran Khan behind bars.”
Vawda claimed that General Faiz Hameed would not become a plea bargain witness, and that his trial and potential court-martial would continue. He emphasized that the Army Chief had already initiated accountability proceedings and that Faiz Hameed’s punishment would not be halted.
Vawda also revealed that the purchase of 1,010 vehicles had been halted, and mentioned receiving threats from officials at the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). He added that the FIA was putting immense pressure on him, but asserted that he was not a weak man and had all the necessary evidence. He warned, “If anything happens to me, the ones responsible will be remembered for seven generations.”
Regarding the situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Vawda predicted that Ali Amin Gandapur would not remain Chief Minister for long, with the PML-N government likely attempting to protect him. He also expressed doubts about Junaid Akbar’s ability to help Imran Khan, stating that Akbar would be unable to do much, as Gandapur controls all the resources. Vawda suggested that Akbar might eventually be forced to resign.
Vawda further claimed that both the government and PTI had an interest in keeping Imran Khan in jail, and predicted that Barrister Gujjar would not last as PTI chairman, with the political “mafia” ultimately overtaking him. He expressed skepticism about PTI’s upcoming protests, accusing them of attempting to sabotage the Turkish President’s visit and the upcoming championship to gain international attention.
He also suggested that the Punjab government should allow PTI to hold rallies, asserting that no one, not even Imran Khan’s father, could fill Minar-e-Pakistan ground except for Imran Khan himself. Vawda dismissed the ongoing protests and sit-ins as insignificant, calling the entire situation a “drama.” He further speculated that Gandapur might flee through Haripur.
Vawda described Maulana Fazlur Rehman as a shrewd politician who could stage protests for his own benefit but would not support the PTI. He also questioned whom the PTI would form a grand alliance with, given the current political landscape.
