ISLAMABAD: Uzbekistan Airways is increasing its flight frequency between Islamabad and Tashkent from Monday, providing passengers with additional travel options between Pakistan and Uzbekistan.
The Uzbek Embassy announced the revised schedule, under which the airline will operate flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Previously, the airline operated twice-weekly services on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
The expansion will improve connectivity for tourists, business travellers and transit passengers while strengthening economic and tourism ties between the two countries.
Furthermore, the additional flights will make it easier for Pakistani travellers to visit Uzbekistan’s historic destinations, including Samarkand, Bukhara, and Khiva. The expanded schedule is also expected to strengthen Tashkent’s position as a regional aviation hub, offering passengers more convenient connections to other Central Asian destinations.
According to figures shared by the Uzbek Embassy, more than 20,000 Pakistani tourists visited Uzbekistan in 2025. Nearly 20,000 additional Pakistani visitors travelled to the country during the first nine months of 2026, reflecting growing interest in travel between the two nations.
Currently, Pakistan and Uzbekistan operate eight scheduled flights per week, including four services between Tashkent and Lahore, two between Tashkent and Islamabad, and flights connecting Tashkent with Karachi.
With the additional Islamabad service, the total number of scheduled weekly flights between the countries will increase to nine. The development is expected to facilitate travel, strengthen people-to-people contacts and support expanding bilateral relations.
